A declaration is a short statement at the end of your resume affirming that the details provided are true and correct to the best of your knowledge. It is followed by your name, place, and date. The convention carried over from traditional Indian biodata formats and is still common on resumes for government and corporate roles.
Standard: "I hereby declare that the information furnished above is true to the best of my knowledge and belief." Shorter: "I declare that the above information is true and correct." Place it after your last section, left-aligned, with your signature, place, and date below it.
Honestly, it is optional now. For government jobs, PSU applications, and traditional Indian companies, keep it - the convention is expected. For tech, startups, MNCs, and international roles, you can drop it and use the space for an extra achievement. When in doubt, a one-line declaration costs you nothing.
