Use a clean, ATS-friendly format for fresher and experienced teaching roles. Show your B.Ed, CTET or TET credentials, classroom skills and measurable student outcomes without crowding the page.
PikaResume guidance
Use a reverse-chronological teacher resume with standard headings. Freshers should usually keep it to one page and lead with qualifications, B.Ed, CTET or TET status, teaching practice, and subject skills. Experienced teachers can use two pages when they add class levels, boards, measurable student outcomes, curriculum work, and school contributions.

Use a reverse-chronological, one-page resume if you are a fresher and a maximum of two pages if you have substantial teaching experience. Keep standard section headings so school applicant-tracking systems can read them. Put the evidence most relevant to the vacancy first instead of treating every teaching application the same.
A fresher teacher resume should not pretend that coursework is full-time experience. Lead with your qualification and target subject, then use teaching practice, internships, tutoring, volunteer classes and lesson-design projects as evidence. Mention the board, class range, subject, class size and lesson outcome wherever you can.

| Weak statement | Stronger resume bullet |
|---|---|
| Taught Mathematics to Class 10 students | Taught CBSE Mathematics to 96 Class 10 students and raised the board-exam pass rate from 82% to 96% in two academic years. |
| Prepared lesson plans and assessments | Built a common lesson-plan and assessment bank used by six teachers across Classes 6-8, reducing weekly preparation time by four hours. |
| Communicated regularly with parents | Introduced monthly progress calls for 42 students, increasing parent-meeting attendance from 58% to 87%. |
| Helped with school activities | Led the school debate club for 35 students and coached the team to two district-level finalist finishes. |
Use skills that match the vacancy and that you can prove in your experience bullets. Separate classroom and curriculum skills from software so both the recruiter and ATS can understand them. Do not use progress bars or rate yourself five stars; those graphics are subjective and often parse poorly.
College and university applications need a different emphasis. Lead with your highest qualification and subject specialisation, then teaching experience, courses taught and research. Include publications, conferences, grants, student supervision and administrative responsibilities such as HOD, examination committee or NAAC work. Keep a separate academic CV only when the institution explicitly requests a complete publication and research record.
Mirror truthful terms from the vacancy, especially the exact subject, class range, board and mandatory credential. A primary-teacher vacancy and a PGT Mathematics vacancy should not receive the same resume. Keep keywords inside readable sentences and section headings; repeating a hidden list will not compensate for missing qualifications.

Build my teacher resumeBuild a focused teacher resume that matches the school vacancy and remains easy for an ATS to parse.
Include a targeted career objective, education, B.Ed or M.Ed, CTET or TET status, teaching practice, internships, tutoring, lesson-planning projects, subject knowledge and relevant digital tools. Describe genuine classroom exposure with the subject, classes, duration and outcomes instead of claiming full-time experience.
Use one page for freshers and early-career teachers. Two pages are reasonable when you have several relevant roles, leadership duties, curriculum work or meaningful achievements. Do not extend the resume with repeated responsibilities or unrelated certificates.
Mention a documented parent-satisfaction result or a structured feedback programme as an achievement. Avoid anonymous praise or long quotations on the resume; keep formal testimonials in a separate document and provide them only when requested.
Create a separate "Certifications" section. List CTET/TET/SET with year and percentile, plus any subject-specific certifications.
Include it - recruiters value hands-on classroom experience. Frame it like a regular job (institute name, role, years, subjects taught, batch sizes, student outcomes).
Use PDF unless the school specifically asks for a Word document. A text-based PDF preserves the layout and remains ATS-readable; scan the finished file to confirm that names, dates and section headings are extracted correctly.
